Summer 2024 Cape Cod Institute Optional Events
Our on-site team plans a host of optional afternoon/evening recreational events for participants, faculty, and their loved ones to join. Some of these options are free of charge or offered at a reduced rate for Cape Cod Institute participants.

CCI Welcome Reception
MONDAYS 4:45-6:00p.m.
Join faculty, colleagues, and CCI staff for a casual gathering and networking event. Drinks and snacks are supplied and loved ones are welcome!

Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch
WEDNESDAYS @ 4:00p.m.
Join colleagues for an afternoon Whale Watching excursion that leaves from Provincetown! Dolphin Fleet offers discounted rates for CCI participants and seniors.

Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater
THURSDAYS @ 8:00p.m.
Discount tickets for CCI participants on Thursday nights.
Productions change by the week. CCI staff will update participants regarding current offerings.

Nature Hike
TUESDAYS @ 5:30p.m.
Join CCI colleagues for a guided 1-2 mile hike led by a national seashore guide. Free of charge and open to loved ones!

Cape Cod Camino Way Walk
THURSDAYS @ 4:00p.m.
Join a walking tour of bucolic Brewster to hear the history of Cape Cod: Sea Captains, interesting women, the Wampanoag people, abolitionists, and some local myths. Approximately 1.5 miles. Free of charge and open to loved ones.
Hiking:

Check out the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce for great hiking options. Nickerson State Park is wonderful nearby option.
Biking/Running/Walking:

Lower and Outer Cape are wonderful places to explore by bike and by foot.

Rail Trail: Ride, walk or run through 6 Cape Cod towns as you follow the Cape Cod Rail Trail. There’s plenty to see along the 25-mile trail and state and national parks to visit as you please.

Beaches & Ponds:

National Seashore: There are six National Seashore Beaches. They offer daily parking rates or if you plan to go more than twice during your stay, buy an Annual Pass to the National Seashore ($60) to save. The National Seashore offers free daily and weekly activities for families.

Orleans Beaches:

Bay Beaches & Ponds: Each Town has Bay Beaches and Local Fresh Water Ponds that are great for kids. Make sure to check the local tide chart before heading to a bay beach!

Eastham Beaches & Ponds: Seven Bay Beaches and three freshwater ponds

Wellfleet Beaches: To purchase a pass for the Wellfleet bay beaches and Fresh Water Kettle Ponds, you will need to show a Proof of Stay from the property owner, realtor, or host of the establishment that you are staying in. Stickers can be purchased at the beach office located at the town Pier.
