Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

  1. Describe a model for integrating LifeForce Yoga practices and IFS therapy

  2. Discuss the Internal Family Systems model as it relates to internal feeling parts 

  3. Identify the principles of yoga for mood regulation and how to match clients with an appropriate practice that meets both mood and constitution

  4. From an Internal Family Systems perspective, identify where emotions live in the physical body and describe how to incorporate this awareness into clinical mental health treatment

  5. Discuss ways to work with ‘parts’ to enhance their relationship with Self, unburden them, and re-harmonize the internal family system

  6. Describe two yoga-breathing exercises to help clients relax, focus, and have greater access to feeling states

  7. Describe two meditation techniques effective with OCD and anxiety disorders

  8. Identify predominate mood through analysis of current breathing patterns

  9. Distinguish between various types of yoga as well as understand the method of yoga practice that increases clients’ self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-esteem, and ability to cope

  10. Identify somatic strategies beneficial and complementary to clinical practice

  11. Identify and discuss strategies to incorporate and integrate the use of visual imagery in clinical work as a tool to facilitate deep relaxation for body and mind
