LodgingParticipants are responsible for their own accommodations. Early reservations are advised. The "Lower Cape", where the Cape Cod Institute is held, contains more unspoiled wilderness and less commercial development than other sections of Cape Cod, because it is regulated by the by the National Park Service. Some amenities such as washing machines are not universally available and one must drive to most paid-for entertainments from museums to miniature golf to restaurants. On the other hand, because the Lower Cape is only three miles wide, Atlantic surf, calm warm water and fresh water ponds are never more than a few minutes drive away. Many Institute participants choose housing on the basis of price, nearness to the Institute, and the presence of amenities they especially value. The Institute is in held in the town of Eastham and is a short drive from the adjoining towns of Orleans and Wellfleet and not far from Truro, Provincetown and Brewster. A very detailed list of housing on the Lower Cape and all parts of Cape Cod may be obtained from the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, (508-362-3225 and www.capecodchamber.org). Those who wish to rent a house or cottage in Eastham or the adjoining towns of Wellfleet and Orleans should conact a local realtor soon for the best selection. Martie Cunningham of Peters Real Estate (508-255-2329 and petersrealestate.us) has found housing at all price levels for many participants in previous years. Prices range from as little as about $500 (for minimum accommodations) to $3000 or more (for water location or other special amenities). The lodging advertisements on this web page are for establishments of all types and at a range of prices which were rated favorably by those who attended the Cape Cod Institute in 2007.
